About Indiana Convention Center

Indianapolis is on the verge of having one of the nation’s top 20 largest convention center complexes. The combination of the new multi-purpose Lucas Oil Stadium and an expanded Indiana Convention Center means Indianapolis is able to offer 3.4 million square feet of exhibit and meeting space. The combined new space makes the Indiana Convention Center the nation’s 16th largest.

The Indiana Convention Center has 566,600 square feet of exhibit space. The new exhibit halls are contiguous with the existing halls. Another 183,000 square feet is in Lucas Oil Stadium, which is connected to the center via walkway. Lucas Oil Stadium, with 63,000 permanent seats, features a retractable roof that allows for multiple uses in addition to serving as the home of the 2006 Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts. The stadium opened in August 2008 and is the site for the 2012 Super Bowl.

The Indiana Convention Center expansion will sits on the RCA Dome footprint. The RCA Dome closed in April 2008 and has been demolished. The growth of the facilities is partly driven by location. Indianapolis is within one day’s drive of more than half of the nation’s population. Its airport is just 15 minutes from downtown. The Convention Center is located in the heart of Indianapolis’ revitalized downtown, connected by skywalks to eight hotels, 3,200 rooms and Circle Centre shopping and entertainment complex  with more than 100 stores, shops and restaurants.
